True Love Heals and Makes Us Whole

Being humans, we have the desire to love and to be loved. But why do we have that desire? To answer that, we have to know that the characteristics of the “Producer” are seen on the product itself.  Based on that, we, the humans have received all the abilities from our producer, the creator God. Ability to think, feel, choose and so on. Among them, the best we received from our God is the concept of love.

Before I go further, let me address the question about evil – Have we acquired evil also from God? NO, because evil is absence of good. Desire to do good is what we have acquired from God. Further, using freewill, which is again from God, we have brought in evil by not doing good. Evil is like darkness, nobody can create darkness but can only remove light.

The Bible says – God is love (1 John 4:8). For love to exist, there should be more than one person. Therefore, for God to be “love,” he has to be more than one – plurality in Godhead is a logical necessity for love to exist in a self-sufficient and independent God. The Bible gives various evidences to show that God is triune – three persons having one essence. The eternally co-existing Father, Son and the Holy Spirit have a love relation.

The triune God made us in His image, and gave us the experience of love in him, and the ability of expressing that love to others. (1 John 3.16) Unless and until we love, we are not complete. Therefore, humans have a want for love. And, when that want is fulfilled, we become complete.

Seeing this great desire, pseudo-love in the guise of true love deceives us, causing immense pain. Abuse, in the name of love, from family members has become a common affair now days. Ingrid had gone through such pain.

Ingrid was one among those many women who had been victimized through abused relationships.  Ingrid was abused from her childhood. She had an alcoholic father and people close to her had taken her to advantage. And her fiancé many times tortured her physically to an extent where broke her jaw once. But, she suffered in silence and thought she deserved it. It only worsened until one day he actually stabbed her 17 times with a knife and tried to kill her by putting the apartment on fire, and at that moment, she called out to the only Name that she knew could save her. Her soul got saved in the moment of death and she asked Jesus that if He could save her from death, she would live a life acceptable to Him. At that moment, she felt the warmth of angels surrounding her and knew that she wasn’t going to die. She ran with the stabbed knife in her body only to be rescued by a woman passing by. She recovered from major injuries to her head and internal parts of her body.

But, her road to recovery reached its fullness when she has forgiven Eddie, her ex fiancé, who has been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and was admitted to a mental institution.  She believes that forgiveness is for her benefit that prevents anger and hatred from consuming her. Now, God blessed her with a good husband and family who could actually show her the true love. She now knows that, through the love of Christ that is sweet and kind, she has been redeemed to love and to know true love. She thanks God for every added day in her life and for healing her from the pain of her childhood.
